Summer Sun-Days

What have we been doing lately?

Aaron has purchased his books and is working on getting his ten-hour-a-week internship lined up. We’ve visited the church three Sundays and are planning on joining their camping trip in a few weeks, so hopefully it will work out.

And I’ve been workin’, workin’, workin’. I remembered how to do the work, but not how to stop procrastinating and avoid the last-minute crunch. I also discovered a couple lovely spots in the library, which is just down the block. This time of year, I have the place to myself. Free, virtually silent workspace? Freelancer heaven!

I did take some time out a couple Saturdays ago to walk with the Joygirl to the incredible farmer’s market, and later in the week we spent some time downtown with my mom.

Stuff Dutch People Like?

Two Sundays ago, which was gorgeous, we went out on Aaron’s parents’ boat and grilled dinner at the marina with them. (That’s right, the marina. Do I sound all hoity-toity yet?) The Joygirl loves the wind, splashing water, and tormenting the dog and kitten which were on board. (She also enjoys being the only person of color at . . . White Lake. Hmm.)

On a boat, yo! Take a good hard look at the mother . . . in-law’s boat.

Since then we’ve had another townhouse-dwellers’ potluck and met more new (and returning) neighbors, seen some more old friends (some from GR and some visiting from far-off lands), and apparently slept through a huge thunderstorm. Tomorrow my brother and his fam arrive at my parents’ for a visit, so we will be busy watching the cousins run circles around each other. The next weekend, Aaron’s “little” brother is getting married, so that will be like a family reunion.

Then it’s all over but the studyin’–classes start on the 31st.

Hoity-toity?? A marina is just a playground for boats! Anytime…this week-end looks like a hot and humid one…

What a delight it must be to be back with much of your family! AJ is going to love being able to grow up a little bit amidst all that love — and playful cousins!

I giggled all the way through this post. Dunno why. Your cracks about the Dutch make me feel good… it’s so hard to be one of the only married-to-a-Dutchman people over here. No one gets it.
